Our Story

The Columbia office was opened in 1930 and has been serving South Carolina ever since. With a long standing presence in the community, we strive to go above and beyond in delivering quality work for our clients, but also participating in service projects to give back to the community. We have worked closely with the Oliver Gospel Mission through their Thanksgiving Box and Timothy House projects.

Steven S. Luoma, CPA

Partner-in-Charge

Steve has been a part of the McGregor & Company, LLP team since 1991 and was admitted as a partner in 2000. He now serves as the Partner-in-Charge of our Columbia office and specializes in a wide variety of niche areas, including tax planning and consulting for automotive dealerships, specialty lenders, real estate development and investment entities, wholesale distribution, and high net-worth individuals. He is also involved in business organization planning as well as buy/sell consulting and review. As an avid Gamecocks fan and golf enthusiast, you can find Steve at sporting events year-round. In addition to balancing his work life and time with his family, Steve maintains active memberships with AICPA and SCACPA and has previously served as president of the Central Chapter of the SCACPA, a board member of USC Friends of Accounting (FAD), and a member of the USC Honors School Scholarship Review Committee.

Gerald D. Skipper, CPA

Partner

Skip began working at McGregor & Company, LLP in 1971 and has been a Partner since 1977. With more than forty years of experience, he lends his expertise to tax planning and preparation for individuals and closely held businesses. When he’s not in the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, hunting, fishing, and cheering on the USC Gamecocks.

Lewis R. Leaphart, Jr., CPA

Partner

Buddy was admitted as a partner of McGregor & Company, LLP in 1982. He specializes in governmental and not-for-profit engagements, including counties, school districts, foundations, charitable organizations, disability and special needs boards, trade associations, and insurance trusts. He has also served as partner-in-charge of single audit engagements for governmental, health care centers, and not-for-profits. He has extensive experience in the preparation of Annual Financial Status Reports for federal awards, Medicaid and Medicare cost reports, tax filings, and extensive research for non-profit agencies.

Dean L. Richardson, CPA, CGMA

Partner

Dean began his accounting career with McGregor & Company, LLP in 1983 and was admitted as a partner in 1990. He is responsible for monitoring adherence to the system of quality control standards adopted by the firm under the AICPA Peer Review Program. He is also responsible for the firm's compliance with continuing education requirements for all professional staff. He has extensive experience in tax, auditing, compilation, review, and management advisory services. His audit experience includes commercial clients, municipalities, other governmental entities, and not-for-profit organizations, including churches and church affiliates. In his limited free time, Dean enjoys spending time with family and friends and maintaining an active membership with the Gamecock Club.

T. Mark McCall, CPA, CVA

Partner

Mark has been a part of the McGregor & Company, LLP family since 1992 and was admitted as a partner in 2000. Mark is a current member of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts and specializes in tax preparation and research. He has extensive experience in individual, estate and gift, corporate, and partnership taxation. He enjoys spending time with his family, enjoys the great outdoors, and watching college football, especially the Clemson Tigers.

James R. Matthews, CPA

Partner

Jamie began his accounting career as a staff accountant at McGregor & Company, LLP in 2004. Since then, he's been admitted as a Partner of our firm and specializes in audit, review, compilation, and tax services for closely held small businesses, including automotive dealerships, construction companies, and wholesale distributors. As a Columbia resident, his love for the USC Gamecocks comes as no surprise. Outside of the office, Jamie loves spending time with his family, boating on Lake Murray, and playing golf.

Christopher D. Hinchee, CPA

Partner

Christopher has been with the McGregor & Company, LLP team since 2006. Prior to joining McGregor and Company, Christopher served in the United States Army for 6 years as a Finance and Accounting Specialist. Christopher is a graduate of West Virginia University and is a proud Mountaineer. Christopher maintains active memberships with the AICPA and SCACPA and has previously served as president of the Central Chapter of the SCACPA. Christopher is actively involved with the American Legion, and American Legion Riders.

Gabrielle P. Davis, CPA

Partner

Gabrielle Davis began her career at McGregor & Company, LLP as an intern while attending Columbia College. Upon graduation in 2003, she transitioned into her role as a full-time staff accountant and was admitted to the partnership in May 2018. She focuses on auditing, review, compilation, tax, and management advisory services with major emphasis on non-profit and governmental entities. Her interests outside of work include spending time with her family and Gamecock sports, esp. baseball and football.

Heather Mims, CPA

Partner

Heather graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Master of Accountancy degree in 2013 and began her career as a staff accountant at McGregor & Company, LLP. Since then, she has obtained extensive experience in individual, estate and gift, corporate and partnership taxation, as well as audit and compilation services for closely held small businesses and nonprofit organizations. As a longtime Columbia resident, Heather enjoys exploring the city’s culinary and entertainment scene. Outside of work, she can be found spending time at the Riverwalk with her husband and their Rottweiler.

William C. Stevenson, CPA

Active Retired Partner

Bill began his career at McGregor & Company, LLP in 1971 and was admitted as a partner in 1976. He is a certified public accountant in both North Carolina and South Carolina and has extensive experience in HUD projects, wholesale distributors, construction companies, auto dealers, manufacturers, real estate development, real estate investment, and financial institutions.

Barry T. Kight, CPA, CFA, CFP, PFS

Active Retired Partner

Barry began working at McGregor & Company, LLP in 1971 and was admitted as a partner in 1977. Now a retired partner, Barry focused his career on specializing in investment advice, portfolio evaluation, and portfolio management for individuals, business entities, retirement plans, trusts, estates, and charitable organizations.
